• Most people know that things like broken bones, heart attacks and strokes require immediate medical attention.
• Emergency attention is recommended for severe abdominal pain, head injuries, high fevers, difficulty breathing, severe eye injuries, carbon monoxide exposure, sudden blindness, complicated or deep cuts and other conditions.
• Situations like rape and suicidal thoughts, threats or attempts also merit urgent help.
